1 step? 2 steps? Liquid or strips? Which is the most effective way to get rid of blackheads? Part 1

Hello readers, have you noticed that there are so many different products just for removing your blackheads?

There are different kinds of blackhead removers that I have used:

1. Strip based (just one strip)

2. Strip based (three steps involving three different strips)

3. Liquid based (three steps)

So in the upcoming posts, I will be introducing the above-mentioned three types of products that you can use for blackhead removal and in the last post, I will reveal which one works best for me. I will cover It’s Skin’s Blackhead Clear Kit 123, Holika’s 3-step Pig Nose Clear Blackhead Removing strips and Biore’s Charcoal Nose Pore strip.

This post will focus on the first item- It’s Skin’s Blackhead Clear Kit 123.

What does the kit do?

I got this product from Korea and have used it for at least 6 months.This kit is a step-wise nose pack that claims to eliminate blackheads/whiteheads and control the excess sebum produced. There are three small tubes inside the kit, including a pore heating gel(30 ml), which helps to open your pores and soften the skin, a blackhead removing gel(40 ml), which does the actual process of removing your blackheads, and a pore tightening cream(30 ml), which helps unclog pores.

How to use the kit:

Step 1: It's Skin blackhead clear pore heating gel. Cleanse your face first. Then, apply an adequate amount of the heating gel and spread it on the nose area. Massage for 4-5 minutes. Wash your face.

Step 2: It’s Skin blackhead clear nose pack (black in color). Apply an adequate amount and spread it on your nose. Wait for the liquid to dry. When it is completely dry, start removing it from the edge. You can clearly see what comes out as the strip is black in color.

Step 3: It’s Skin blackhead clear pore tightening cream. Apply an adequate amount of the cream evenly on our nose. This will help close your pores.

My thoughts:

1) A comprehensive kit: I think this kit is a comprehensive way to get rid of your stubborn blackheads. There is a step-by-step process which should gradually lead to a clearer nose.

2) Good value for money: You just need to spend around 13 USD and you get to have three tubes. Not only that, but the kit can last for at least 6 months if you use it once a week. I love such products, just buy once and you don’t have to worry about restocking so soon.

3) Good feeling: I don’t know about you, but after going through the three steps, I feel pampered and get a sense of pleasure from taking caring of my skin.

4) Love the heating gel: I think adding that heating gel is a clever idea. You don't have to use any steamer and that gel will help you soften your pores without any effort required. Even if I don't use the product in the future, I will definitely get it just for the heating gel.

Things to watch out for:

Time and effort required: Overall it will take at least 20 minutes or even more for all the three steps. Also, for step 1, you cannot just leave the heating gel on as it will come down to your mouth. You need to massage your nose for at least 5 minutes in order to soften the skin and open your pores.

Effectiveness: I am still not sure if this product really works. I am somebody who has lots of whiteheads on the nose and this product manages to take them out on some days and on some days nothing comes out. It then makes me feel that all the effort and time is wasted.

Final verdict:

This product is definitely worth a try and a good one if you don't want to keep restocking from time to time. Also, as mentioned, the heating gel is amazing!
